Broadstairs' Culinary Delights - Including a Michelin Starred Restaurant!

We’re delighted that Stark, a small bijou restaurant just a couple of minutes’ walk away from the cottage, has been awarded a Michelin Star.  The chef, Ben Crittenden, offers a six-course tasting menu for just 10 diners to enjoy in the restaurant’s quirky and charming ambience.  Being just one of 3 restaurants in Kent with the Michelin accolade really does make this a special place to dine.

If you like burgers, you'll love Please Sir! which is very highly rated. We’re also lucky to have two restaurants, Albarino (tapas) and Wyatt & Jones (British), that are listed in both the Michelin and Waitrose Good Food Guides’.  A new addition is The Jetty on the end of the pier that has a great menu and tasty homemade burgers.

Other restaurants that are well worth a visit and our favourites include Osterio Posillipo (an Italian restaurant with outdoor dining overlooking the sea), Samworth & Mee (fish restaurant) and the Greek Tavern (a great meze).  Our nearest restaurant, The Sicilian, offers Italian food with outdoor dining during the summer.  Further away from the sea but very popular are Cardak Meze & Grill, a Turkish restaurant, and Da's Diner a small Thai restaurant serving delicious food (BYO drinks).

We're always delighted when new establishments open and there always seems to be something popping up to try with a recent addition being The Funicular.  This cafe is right by the Viking Bay beach huts at the base of decommissioned funicular railway.  Renovated in a sympathetic and stylish decor it's a wonderful place to enjoy the seaview with a delicious piece of homemade cake!

During the summer the beach cafes at Louisa Bay and Dumpton Gap are lovely places to eat breakfast or lunch right next to the beach.  The Bandstand Kiosk provides a lovely setting to listen to orchestras performing on the Bandstand.

We have many other fabulous cafes, restaurants, tea rooms, pubs and ice cream venues in the town all within walking distance of Sea Glimpses.

For ice cream lovers, a special treat is a visit to Morelli’s where the family have been making ice cream for over 100 years.  In 1932 they opened their parlour overlooking Viking Bay and they still make their ice cream on the premises today.  A visit to Morelli’s is an absolute must!

Broadstairs Food Festival

To promote Broadstair's gastronomical delights and celebrate its culinary culture, each Spring and Autumn, the town holds a food festival.  It’s a chance for local businesses to showcase their products and, with over 100 stalls, provides food lovers with an opportunity to sample different tastes.  It's been running for over 10 years and is proving very popular with locals and visitors and is definitely a must for food lovers.
